EDIUS nonlinear editing software is designed for any broadcast and postproduction environment, especially those with newer, tapeless recording and storage.

EDIUS software offers real-time, multi-track, mixed-format editing, compositing, chroma keying, titling, and timeline output capabilities. In addition to the standard DV and HDV it fully supports native AVCHD, AVCCAM, Infinity™ JPEG 2000, DVCPRO, P2, VariCam, Ikegami GigaFlash, MXF, XDCAM, XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD 4:2:2 formats.

Now with the EDIUS 5.5 release EDIUS offers better real time AVCHD performance than any other editing program, under Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.

GPUfx – GPU Accelerated Video Transitions

With the departure of the old Xplode architecture, EDIUS now features a brand new collection of 2D and 3D video transitions for SD and HD productions. With 22 transition groups, and literally hundreds of presets out of the box, GPUfx are easy to apply, while providing complete key-frame controls over all the properties of the effects.

Best of all, GPUfx transitions make use of the power of your system's graphics card*, which will have you producing high quality 2D and 3D video transitions that require little to no rendering whatsoever! What makes the GPUfx visual effects package unique among its peers is that all computation and effect generation is done entirely in the YUV colorspace; from memory to CPU to GPU and back. Other solutions will flip between YUV and RGB when moving data between the CPU and the GPU.

* GPUfx requires a graphics card with the proper level of 3D processing capabilities (Pixel Shader Model 3.0 or higher). Unsupported graphics cards will not be able to display GPUfx transitions used within a project.

Built-in Exporter Interface

EDIUS 5.5 offers timeline output straight to Blu-ray disc or DVD with menus also to make life easier, a large number of common presets are already supplied to help you get your project exported to web, ipod and many other formats. As with previous versions, you can create your own custom presets as you go along.

Real-Time Effects, Transitions and Titles in HD and SD

EDIUS software empowers editors with an array of real-time filters, keyers and transitions to refine and enhance video projects, without the need for rendering. The filters can be stacked and used in any combination to provide unrestricted creativity, while the transitions are fully optimized for instant playback of all 2D and 3D effects.

EDIUS software also comes with Quick Titler. As the name suggests, Quick Titler allows you to quickly create titles for projects in either HD or SD resolution, using built-in text styles, animations and artwork objects, or your own customized titles and objects.

EDIUS software features the revolutionary Canopus HQ codec. Designed with scalable technology, this innovative codec offers the highest image quality and performance available in any HD editing platform. The Canopus HQ codec not only provides superior luma and chroma sampling of HD video, but features an adjustable bit rate for increased video quality when capturing and encoding on high-performance systems.

Ready For HD When You Are

With EDIUS software, you can move from SD to HD whenever you’re ready. It can edit DV content in HD resolutions, providing automatic, real-time upscale conversion from SD to HD—and apply all project titles, graphics, and effects in HD resolution. Ensuring a painless transition to the world of HD, you can work in and output HDV content to hard disks or DVD-R drives without the need for an HDV camera or deck.
